At Steeple Bumpstead Primary School, we use CUSP PSHE to help children develop the knowledge and skills they need to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives. The curriculum has been developed using CUSP’s trusted, evidence-informed approach and is carefully adapted to suit the age and stage of our pupils.
Our six core themes
The curriculum is organised around six themes:
- Ready to Learn
- Friends and Family
- My Life
- Respectful Relationships
- Being Safe
- Keeping Healthy
All year groups explore the same theme at the same time, but the content and activities are carefully matched to the children’s age and understanding. This allows pupils to return to important ideas throughout their time at Steeple Bumpstead, gradually developing deeper knowledge and greater confidence.
A whole-school approach
Studying the same theme across the school helps us to create shared language and consistent messages for our children. It also allows us to connect classroom learning with assemblies, whole-school events and wider opportunities.
CUSP PSHE is fully aligned with the revised Department for Education statutory guidance for Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education, which came into effect in September 2026.
